Here you have our list of the best camping tents with hinged doors. All tents in this buyers guide have hinged doors that allow for easy access. Hinge doors typically make tents feel more like a real home. They are also usually designed with Velcro tabs, instead of traditional zippers.
Although most are from Coleman, there are many types of hinge door in this review, which should allow you to find the best one for your specific needs. Please note that while there are many hinged door camping tents, not all of them are recommended by us. Without further ado, let’s dive in!
1. Coleman Montana
The Coleman Elite Montana 8-Person Tent is the upgraded version of the standard Coleman Montana. This is a hinged door family tent with a dome construction and official capacity of 8 people. With that said, the 16 ft. x 7 ft. (4.87 m x 2 m) size is more appropriate for 5-6 people. The one-room tent is ideal for close friends or small families who want a tent that offers comfort in three seasons of the year.
In regards to the materials, the tent has a fibreglass frame that is surrounded by a polyester fabric that incorporates the patented WeatherTec System. This system makes the tent wind-resistant and waterproof. Now, it will keep you dry during rain, but it isn’t the best tent for heavy side-rain.
The hinge door is created by inserting the poles into the door sleeves. This creates a sturdy hinge door that has no issues and creates easy access. We would prefer two of these, but nothing can be perfect.
What separates this tent from the competition is the LED light system which has high, low and nightlight modes. With 100 lumens of light, there will be no more for bumps in the night.
2. Coleman Cabin Tent with Instant Setup
This Coleman tent has the shape of a cabin, with large windows on all sides. As an instant hinge tent, the tent erects in a matter of minutes. In fact, we have included this in our top instant tents list.
The hinge door is created with poles that create a ridged structure that swings open and close. Velcro tabs secure the door inplace, rather than the usual zipper doors.
Alongside the door, the tent has other innovative features like the dark-rest design. Coleman states that this unique material is able to reflect 90% of natural sunlight, allowing users to relax during the daylight hours.
The 10-person version has a 140 ft² size, which isn’t quite big enough for 10 people, although the sleeping area has enough room for two queen size beds. It would be better suited to small families who want to go camping during the summer.
Now, I say summer because this tent has an all-mesh ceiling that is more suited to camping in warmer climates. Users will also love the E-cable port for electricity, ring for ceiling lantern, and the storage pockets.
3. Coleman WeatherMaster 6 Person Screened Tent
Our third Coleman tent in a row! As you can tell, Coleman produces a range of high-quality hinge tents. The 6-person cabin design creates a tall build with near-vertical walls and large windows. With a height of 80 inches, this is one of the highest tents. 11 x 9 ft dimensions create a total floor area of 99 ft², which is an accurate for six people.
Part of this total area is the large screen room which measures 54 ft². This screen room is something not found on many tents – it allows users to sit with a view of the outside, whilst being protected from the weather and those annoying mosquitoes. It is also a great place to store any spare gear.
As a 3-season tent, the WeatherMaster will keep you at the perfect temperature in multiple seasons, but with so much mesh we would recommend this tent more for camping in warmer climates. The tent is built to protect you from bad weather – It has welded floors, waterproof material, inverted seams, and a bathtub floor. However, the “WeatherMaster” name is a bit misleading as there are far better tents for rain out there.
The hinged door is created by multiple fiberglass poles that keep the door rigid and which swing on another vertical pole; allowing users to get in and out of the tent with ease.
4. Russian Bear Winter Tent With Stove Included
If you’re looking for a winter hinged door tent, the Russian Bear is our choice. Well, there aren’t many of them on the market to choose from. This is a premium-quality tent in every sense of the word. In fact, it even comes with a stove pipe to keep you extra warm during extreme conditions. Here are more winter tents.
As you can see from the picture, the Russian Bear Winter Tent has a circular shape that looks like a camouflage igloo, which covers roughly 102 ft² of ground. The tent is instant, which means it’ll only take a few moments to set-up. Simply unfold the tent, and then open it like an umbrella.
Even though it’ll keep you toasty, the tent still has windows that allow you to see what’s occurring on the outside. These windows are quadruple-layered (yes 4!), so you won’t lose any heat.
5. Coleman Tenaya Lake 6-Person Fast Pitch Cabin with Cabinets
As you may see from the image above, the main feature of this tent is the two storage cabinets, one at either end of the tent. These cabinets have built-in mesh shelves for extra storage for your bed-side essentials. In fact, if go camping with your dog, you can use these two area as mini dog tents.
This is an instant tent with insta-clip suspension. All you need to do is spread the poles and attach the clips before erection. The 99 ft² tent has a declared capacity of six people, but we think the tent is more suitable for four people – two people in both sides of the two-room tent.
Like most in this review, this is a hinged tent for summer camping. Coleman love using mesh structures for their tents. The mesh ceiling will keep the tent well ventilated and can allow you to view the stars if you wish.
